[Best Pick] Remembering Stars We Lost In 2019

Hey guys! Welcome back to [Best Pick]!

Though it is only July of 2020, we are almost sure that it is a tough year. But do you know what is tougher? A quick recap of stars who unfortunately passed away in 2019. In today’s [Best Pick], we will look back at the famous faces we’ve sadly said goodbye to in 2019. Given the length, we cannot give a detailed introduction to all of them, so we picked three.

1. Karl Lagerfeld

Creative director, fashion designer, artist, and photographer, Karl Lagerfeld was definitely a fashion guru. He was the man whose career formed the prototype of the modern luxury fashion industry. Lagerfeld was probably most well-known as the creative director of the French fashion house Chanel, a position held from 1983 until his death, and was also creative director of the Italian fashion house Fendi. Lagerfeld was recognized for his signature white hair, black sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. Though his birth year was a matter of some dispute, Mr. Lagerfeld, who lived in Paris, was generally thought to be 85. In Feb. 2019, the man who “defined luxury fashion”, was dead of cancer.😔

2. Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison, an American novelist, essayist, book editor, and college professor, was the first black woman to win a Nobel Prize in Literature, in 1993. Toni Morrison was born into a working-class family in Lorain, Ohio in the United States, and read a lot as a child. Morrison’s works revolve around African-Americans, both their history and their situation in our own time. Her works often depict difficult circumstances and the dark side of humanity, but still convey integrity and redemption. Ms. Morrison was the author of 11 novels as well as children’s books and essay collections. Among them were celebrated works like “Song of Solomon,” which received the National Book Critics Circle Award in 1977, and “Beloved,” which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1988.

3. Grumpy Cat

Grumpy Cat was an American Internet celebrity cat, and she was known for her permanently “grumpy” facial appearance. She came to prominence when a photograph of her was posted on the Internet. Later, parodies created from the photograph became popular. She was the subject of a popular Internet meme in which humorously negative, cynical images are made from photographs of her. After her debut in 2012, Grumpy Cat made many media appearances, including advertising campaigns. Grumpy Cat died at her home in the arms of her owner in 2019 from an infection. R.I.P kitty.
