Today, we are going to learn a new etymon ”cur’‘ with the word ”incursion”. The etymon ”cur” means ”run” and it is used in many words.
The word consists of three etyma, “in” means “in”, “cur” means“run” and the etyma “sion“ at the end of the word means that this word is a noun. By combining them together, we can easily deduce that the meaning of the word “incursion” is “run in or enter some territory”.
And it is very easy to find a basic combination between what we deduced and the definition in the Oxford Dictionary, “an attack that penetrates into enemy territory“.
