Prince Charles, 71, is displaying mild symptoms “but otherwise remains in good health”, a spokesman said, adding that the Duchess of Cornwall, 72, has been tested but does not have the virus. Meanwhile pictures emerged of the Queen conducting her weekly audience with Boris Johnson by telephone from Windsor Castle. The monarch has held the weekly meeting with whoever is _______ (2 words missing) throughout her reign.
Clarence House said in a statement: “It is not possible to _______ (2 words missing) whom the prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”
His wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has tested negative for the novel coronavirus. It is understood that Camilla is concerned for Charles, but remains upbeat. A source notes that the couple is following guidelines to isolate separately for seven days.
Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer issued a statement about the couple’s testing. “Dr. Catherine Calderwood, Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, has confirmed that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, were tested for COVID-19 for clinical reasons,” it read. “She is very pleased to confirm that both remain in good health.”
Charles’s last public engagement—and his last encounter with the Queen—was on March 12. Buckingham Palace stated that the monarch is “in good health” and “following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare.”
