Anne of Green Gables was remarked as the sweetest book about girlhood. Because of this book, Prince Edward Island became a popular attraction. It is the birthplace of the author, Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Lucy lost her mother at a very young age. She couldn’t get much love from her father either. She had to live with her rigorous grandparent. Lucy was a lonely child, but her experience became her resource of writing. Her writing is always subtle and poetic.

Let’s look at some of her beautiful sentences.

When I don’t like the name of a place or a person I always imagine a new one and always think of them so.

I always say good-night to the things I love, just as I would to people. I think they like it.

It’s been my experience that you can nearly always enjoy things if you make up your mind firmly that you will.

My life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes.

But we can’t have things perfect in this imperfect world.

Life is worth living as long as there’s a laugh in it.

Isn’t it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive. It wouldn’t be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There’d be no scope for imagination then, would there.

Time to learn some sentence structures:

It just makes me feel ??? (fill anything you like) to be ???.

That’s all for today. 🙂
