1. sleep off
Today we are going to learn “sleep off”. If you sleep off the effects of too much traveling, drink, or food, you recover from it by sleeping.
(1). She’s trying to sleep off this headache she has.
(2). It’s a good idea to spend the first night of your holiday sleeping off the jet lag.

2. pick up
Another phrase is “pick up”. If you pick up something such as a skill or an idea, you acquire it without effort over a period of time.
A: I picked up a bottle of Merlot on the way home.
B: How perfect. I just happened to make you a romantic Italian dinner.
