1. pay off
Today we are going to learn “pay off”. If you pay off a debt, you give someone all the money that you owe them.
eg:
(1). We’ve been paying off this mortgage for twenty years!
(2). It would take him the rest of his life to pay off that loan.

 


2. in ages
Another phrase is “in ages”. It means for a long time.
eg:
(1). I haven’t seen Sue in ages.
(2). In ages to come, the present age may well be remembered as the heyday of the superpower.
