Today we are going to learn “mess with”. It means to make something worse, make a mess.
A: Someone’s been messing with your car.
B: Oh, my god! They scratched the paint!

2. take a hit
Another phrase is “take a hit”. It means to be affected, or have a influence on something.
(1). The airline industry took a big hit after the Sept. 11 attacks.
(2). Big publishers will also take a hit on books shipped and sold through the holidays.
