1. give someone dirty looks
Today we are going to learn “give someone dirty looks”. It means to look at someone in an angry, contemptuous, or disapproving manner.
eg:
(1). Why is that person giving me dirty looks?
(2). I started telling him about Janet’s run-in with the law, but he gave me a dirty look.

2. sniff out
Another phrase is “sniff out”. It means to discover something after some searching.
eg:
A: I want to invest in some stocks.
B: I bet my broker could sniff out some good ones for you.
