1. hit
Today we are going to learn “hit”. It means to encounter something you don’t expect to happen.
(1). Once you take control, the people won’t know what hit them.
(2). We should make preparation in advance, in case something bad hit us.

2. in charge
Another phrase is “in charge”. It means having control or responsibility for a group of people or an activity.
(1). Jesse is in charge of this department.
(2). Nobody decided whether to turn left or right, or even to turn at all. Nobody was in charge.
