1. what if
Today we are going to learn “what if”. It’s used to ask about something that could happen in the future, especially something bad.
eg:
A: What if it rains?
B: I don’t know. Let’s wait and decide then.
 
2. step down
Another phrase is “step down”. It means to give up or retire from a position.
eg:
(1). The politician stepped down after he was caught in a brothel.
(2). Judge Ito said that if his wife was called as a witness, he would step down as trial judge.
