1. linger

Today we are going to learn “linger”. If you linger somewhere, you stay there for a longer time than is necessary, for example, because you are enjoying yourself.
(1) Customers are welcome to linger over coffee until around midnight.
(2) The night would linger long enough for what would come or not come.

2. offence

Another word is “offence”. It means an illegal action or a crime or when you offend or upset someone by something you do or say.
(1) He had committed the offence of dangerous driving.
(2) Donโ€™t be upset by what he said; he meant no offence (= did not intend to offend anyone ).
