1. relocate

Today we are going to learn “relocate”. If a person or business relocates, or if they are relocated, they move to a different place.
(1) The residents were relocated to temporary accommodation while the work was being done.
(2) President Trump decided not to relocate the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, at least for now.

2. foothold

Another word is “foothold”. It means a position from which you can start to make progress and achieve your aims
(1) The Philippines’ President Rodrigo Duterte has declared martial law in southern Philippines to contain efforts by ISIS to establish a permanent foothold.
(2) Israel is seeking U.S. support to prevent Iran from establishing a military foothold in Syria.
