1. liberate

Today we are going to learn “liberate”. It means to free prisoners, a city, a country etc from someone’s control.
eg:
(1) The entire city of Mosul has been liberated from ISIS, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced from the war-torn city.
(2) Yemeni army forces on June 28th liberated al-Mukhadara district in Marib, a Houthi-held province east of the capital city Sanaa.

2. paranoia

Another word is “paranoia”. It means an unreasonable belief that you cannot trust other people, or that they are trying to harm you or have a bad opinion of you.
eg:
(1) Paranoia in Zimbabwe has soared as its intelligence apparatus increases surveillance on its own ruling Zanu-PF party and government officials.
(2) In Silicon Valley, paranoia around maintaining fervent control is even higher than other industries.
