How to Trick Your Mind into Practicing English

Do you struggle with keeping a consistent English practice? Why does this happen?

Why We Don’t Do What We Say We’re Gonna Do?

If you plan on studying English for just 15 minutes a day, every day, would you actually do it?

What usually happens is that the first few days after trying to start a new habit, you do really well.

You practice every day and it feels good. You’re learning new things.

Then something in your life happens and you tell yourself I’m tired, it’s okay if don’t study today. It’s just one day.

A few days later you miss another. Pretty soon you lose the habit completely.

So why is it so difficult to keep a consistent practice?

Sometimes life just gets in the way. After a long day at work, you don’t always feel like practicing your English.

But there’s a simple solution.

If you want to do ANYTHING, you need to make it a priority. And that means you need to…

Practice Your English When You FIRST Wake Up

If practicing English is truly important to you, you NEED to do it first thing in the morning.

That means practicing your English before going on Facebook, before checking your email, and before even eating breakfast.

If you don’t have enough time to study before leaving in the morning, then wake up earlier.

A lot of times your mind will fight with you. Telling you that sleep is more important.

But if you sleep for 15 minutes less per day is it really going to have that big of an effect on you?

What if you practice English for 15 more minutes per day. How big of an effect will that have on you in 3 months, 6 months, a year?

If you lose a little sleep one night, you can just go to bed earlier the next day.

But when practicing your English, it’s so important that you study just a little bit each day.

Studying for one hour twice a week is way less effective than practicing English for 15 minutes a day. A language, just like music, is better learned with a little bit of exposure every day. This gives our brain more time to incorporate what we learned.

Just like when you stay up all night studying for a test, you may pass the test, but do you remember anything a week or a month later? Probably not.

That’s why it’s so important to…

Practice Your English Every Day

Remember, if you want to get good at something, you need to do it every day. English is no exception.

If you don’t practice FIRST thing in the morning, it’s very likely something in your life will happen that will lead to you skipping your English practice.

Whatever is most important to you, do it AS SOON as you wake up.

If learning English is truly important to you, then wake up a few minutes earlier and practice. Every day.

Even if you only spend 5-10 minutes in the morning, it doesn’t matter. What’s important is keeping the habit.
